Terms of use
The terms that apply when you use Hymnwise: what the planner does and does not supply, your own texts and licences, the calendar you check, and refunds.
What this is
Hymnwise is a planning aid for parish musicians. It keeps the hymnal indexes, services and plans you enter, works out the church year from published calendar rules, shows what you have sung and when, and prints what you planned. It is not a publisher, it grants no licence, and it does not check that anything you entered is right.
Texts, readings and licences
Hymnwise ships no hymn texts, no lectionary tables and no liturgical texts: you type or import your own, under your own licences. Hymn texts, many tunes and arrangements, hymnal indexes, Scripture translations and lectionary tables belong to their publishers. What you type or import, and what you print or reproduce in a bulletin, is covered by your parish's own permissions and reprint licences, not by Hymnwise. The public domain starter index lists only titles, first lines and tunes whose first publication before 1929 was confirmed against the sources named beside each entry; check any entry against your own hymnal before relying on it. Hymnwise is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any church, denomination, diocese, hymnal publisher, lectionary body or licensing service, including the Consultation on Common Texts, Augsburg Fortress, Church Publishing, GIA, OCP, Hope Publishing, Hymnary.org, OneLicense and CCLI.
The calendar
Sunday names, seasons, movable feasts and proper numbers are computed from the rules each tradition publishes, with choices your parish sets. Local and diocesan calendars differ; where anything here disagrees with the calendar your parish follows, that calendar governs.
Your records
Anything the site remembers is stored by your own browser on your own device. It can be cleared by you at any time, cannot be recovered by us, and does not follow you to another device. Keep backups.
What is free
One hymnal, planning a rolling quarter (last week and the next 13 weeks), last-sung dates and warnings, the weekly hymn board slip and bulletin insert, every guide, and a plain backup of everything are free to use with no account and stay that way. When billing is enabled, a paid tier sits on top of that and adds room and reports. Nothing that gets your own records out is moved behind a payment.
Refunds
Not happy with a purchase? Email socialreminderinfo@gmail.com within 14 days of a first purchase, or within 7 days of a renewal, and we will refund it. Send the message from the email address you used at checkout, and include:
- the email address used at checkout (if you are writing from a different address)
- your access code, shown on the Premium page on the browser you purchased from
- roughly when you purchased, and which plan (yearly or lifetime)
- the last 4 digits of the card, if you have the receipt handy
That is everything needed to find the purchase and process the refund. This policy does not limit any statutory rights you may have.
Acceptable use
Use the site to plan your parish's music and print its lists. Do not scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other people, and do not use it to publish texts you have no permission to reproduce.
Warranty and liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Hymnwise is not liable for any loss arising from the use of the site or from reliance on anything on it. A date or a name here is a calculation on the rules and settings you chose.
